Community Recycling
(Updated May 2022 with changes to schemes)
We are a local business and have a keen awareness of how recycling can impact the world we live in for ourselves and our future generations. Because of this we have partnered with TerraCycle® and are a drop off point for many recycling initiatives.
We have a number of recycling bins into which individuals can put their recycling – please ensure that you put them in the right bins to help us when sorting them out to be sent to TerraCycle®.
The directors volunteer many evenings and weekends processing the recycling, so if the accepted products could be put in the correct bins it makes things easier for us! 🙂
The Crisp Packet Recycling Scheme (BLACK BIN – separately on side) – NO LONGER COLLECTING FROM APRIL 2022
Walkers, the previous sponsors of the scheme believe there are enough soft plastic collection points within supermarkets now.
We believe Co-op have points where you can drop off your crisp packets to be recycled by them.
The Bread Bag Recycling Programme (BLACK BIN)
- Any bread packaging made of LDPE plastic can be recycled in this programme.
- Warburtons wax wraps can also be collected under a sister scheme
What happens to the waste after it is sent to TerraCycle®?
Once collected, the bread bags are shredded, washed and then pelletized. These pellets can be used for a number of moulded rigid plastic products like benches or used as film for products such as rubbish bags.
The pladis Biscuits and Snacks Recycling Programme (RED BIN)
We accept any brand of biscuit, cracker and cake wrappers such as digestives, rich tea etc.
This includes the likes of Penguin’s etc but not chocolate bars like Mars, Snickers etc, or the inside plastic tray as they are made from a different material.
What happens to the waste after it is sent to TerraCycle®?
Once received, your biscuit, cracker and cake wrappers are stored at TerraCycle’s UK warehouse until they have collected a large enough quantity to process the plastic by cleaning and shredding it into small pieces which can be recycled into cool new products like park benches.
Note TerraCycle® do not accept any packaging such as chocolate, sweets or fruit bars, so please do not put these in. We are currently on a confectionary waitlist, so if we get accepted then these may be recycled at that time.
The Cheese Packaging Recycling Programme (GREY BIN) – with Air, Home and Laundry Programme
We accept any brand of flexible plastic cheese packaging
- Any brand of flexible plastic cheese pouches
- Any brand of individual plastic cheese wrappers
- Any brand of sliced cheese protective plastic film
Please note that the following types of waste are not accepted in this scheme:
• Plastic cheese tubs and trays (these can be recycled through local council facilities)
• Aluminium cheese wrapping
• Cheese wax and wax paper
• Cheese slice dividers
• Nets from mini cheese portions
• Squeezy cheese tubes
What happens to the waste after it is sent to TerraCycle®?
Once collected, the plastic waste is shredded, washed and then pelletized. These pellets can be used for a number of moulded rigid plastic products like benches, or used as film for products such as rubbish bags.
The Pringles® Can Recycling Programme – NO LONGER COLLECTING FROM APRIL 2020
Only Pringles® tubes, the seal and plastic lids are accepted in this programme. Please note we do not accept any crisp packets or other types of tubes.
What happens to the waste after it is sent to TerraCycle®?
Once collected, the aggregated Pringles® tubes and plastic lids are sorted, shredded and washed. The material is then densified into hard-granulated plastic granules.
The granules are then extruded so they can be incorporated into the production of different plastic products such as fence posts and benches.
PLEASE FIND A NEW TERRACYCLE PROVIDER – DUE TO CHANGES IN THE SCHEME WE CAN NO LONGER COLLECT

The Personal Care and Beauty Recycling Programme (BLUE BIN)
See the separate attachments below which detail what can and cannot be recycled; and save down for your records. (see downloadable poster here)
Please note that plastic bottles are recyclable in almost all UK council recycling systems.
The programme does accept plastic bottles however, as these are widely recyclable; they ask that you only send bottles if it is not possible to recycle them via your local council system.

There is some overlap with the Personal Care and Beauty Recycling Programme (see above).
However this scheme also accepts
- metallic plastic tubes used for body creams, ointments or moisturers

TerraCycle® convert the weight of the products we send to them into points, which then convert at 0.01p into cash. Any monies raised goes to our nominated charity which is Cystic Fibrosis UK. You can find out more about the charity via this link.
Finally, if you have any cardboard packing boxes that can be used to send the recycling to TerraCycle® then please let us know.
